Michelle Evans (2016)
2016 Diverse Community Leaders Award Honoree
Michelle Evans (Orange County, CA)
Michelle is an educator and advocate for the transgender community.
Michelle works tirelessly to promote visibility of the Transgender community. Her efforts have educated hundreds of students, community groups, law enforcement groups, and others on the needs and abilities of the Transgender community. As the founder of TG Rainbow, a support group for all persons regardless of race, creed, color, gender identity, or sexual orientation, Michelle has made an effort to foster a safe community for all to find answers, support, and acceptance. In addition to running TG Rainbow, she regularly serves on PFLAG panels, contributes her presence and input at other transgender support groups, and runs her Mach25 website to bring current and crucial information to anyone seeking help. She attends, coordinates, or participates in 10 to 12 meetings, panels, and events every month. Outside of her work specific to the transgender community, Michelle is the President of the Orange County Space Society. As a part of this role, she coordinates an informational exhibit for an all-city science fair each May as well as tends to multiple exhibits on display in the Orange County area. All of Michelle’s work is completely voluntary. She serves as inspiration to the marginalized transgender person, the seeking child, the struggling family, and the community.
